ELC Assistant Director
Mother Teresa Early Learning Centre in Zuccoli is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Assistant Director to join our leadership team. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced early childhood professional to help shape a nurturing, faith-filled learning environment where children, families, and educators flourish together.
The Assistant Director works closely with the Principal/Nominated Supervisor to support the day-to-day operations of our vibrant early learning community. You will play a key role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality education and care programs that reflect the values of compassion, respect, and curiosity inspired by Mother Teresa.
Key Responsibilities:
* Promote and uphold the philosophy and values of the Catholic education
* community
* Lead and manage all aspects of the Centre's daily operations, including staffing, compliance, enrolments, and financial oversight
* Foster a positive, faith-based culture where children, families, and educators feel valued and supported
* Ensure programs align with the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), National Quality Standards (NQS), and Catholic values
* Provide leadership, mentoring, and professional development for educators
* Build strong relationships with families, the school community, and external partners
* Oversee continuous quality improvement and uphold all regulatory and licensing requirements
Selection Criteria:
* Diploma or working towards Diploma in Early Childhood Education (or ACECQA-approved equivalent)
* Experience in an early learning leadership or senior educator role
* Strong understanding of the EYLF, NQS, and relevant legislation
* Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills
* Establish positive educator, parent and child relationships
* Ability to and experience in providing quality education and care that meets the needs, interests and abilities of children
* Commitment to supporting and contributing to the Catholic Ethos
* A commitment to teamwork, inclusion, and the wellbeing of all children
* Current Working with Children Clearance (OCHRE Card)

Position Description
Core Functions:
1. Engage in and support the sacramental, liturgical, ritual and prayer life of the
service.
2. Responsible for and coordinate the overall management and administration of the
service including but not limited to implementing school and service policies and
procedures, including Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and/or My Time Our
Place Framework (MTOP) and National Quality Standards (NQS) whilst adhering to
all relevant regulations and statutory requirements including ensuring that the
service meets or exceeds quality assurance requirements.
3. Take responsibility for the day to day management of the service in the temporary
absence of the Principal/Nominated Supervisor and as such to be responsible for
management and compliance with National Law and Regulations.
4. Coordinate and supervise the direct activities of employees in the implementation
and evaluation of the educational and developmentally appropriate programs for
children in both services whilst providing a safe and stimulating environment that
meets the social, cultural, educational and physical needs of the children.
5. Establish and maintain appropriate interpersonal relationships between the service,
the school, parents and community.
6. Lead team leaders and members to implement and assess quality developmental
and educational programs for each child that is based on the children's strengths
and interests.
7. Demonstrate a positive attitude and enthusiasm in fulfilling the role including a
commitment to ongoing self and technical development and actively support the
work of colleagues within the team.
8. Actively contribute to innovation and continuous improvement within the school
whilst providing professional leadership and development to all staff.
1. Maintain student number according to budget commitments and manage expenses
within budget requirements.
1. Any other duties as directed by the Principal.
