Our client are currently seeking a Quality Assurance Officer to join their privately family-owned company within the FMCG industry.
The company has been operational for over 70 years and sources the finest foods to bring back to Australian shores. They are passionate about their food products and take great pride and care in looking after their staff, customers and partners and building genuine relationships.
The Quality Assurance Officer is responsible for assisting the Quality & Compliance Manager with maintaining quality assurance with the company's foods and its products. This includes areas of complaints, compliance, packaging, documentation, auditing, sampling, issue resolution and product specification.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate customer complaint responses
- Manage QA issues & related responses
- Coordinate product testing & verification activities
- Prepare samples for laboratory testing
- Check incoming stock (retain samples, weight checks, label checks)
- Arrange product sensory evaluation
- In conjunction with the Quality & Compliance Manager, ensure labels are compliant to FSANZ & ACCC labelling laws
- Participate in the approval of new products through obtaining product specifications, shelf-life information, and supplier
approval
- Ensure all OH&S procedures and policies are met and adhered to
- Ensure all appropriate actions are taken to implement the Occupational health and Safety Policy, health and safety procedure
and legislative requirements
Skills and Knowledge:
- A qualification in food science or similar
- A good understanding of WQA/SQF/HACCP/Costco/Spotless and DFSV
- A good understanding of Legal and Regulatory requirements i.e., FSANZ, ACCC, weights and measures and labelling
- Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) basic to intermediate level
- Excellent organisational and time management skills
- Ability to work within a team environment and autonomously
- Attentive listener with strong communication skills & high attention to detail
- Ability to work cooperatively with various departments within the company
- A great understanding of HACCP
**Experience**:
- 2 years experience working in the FMCG food industry
- Experience in working to quality standards relating to WQA/SQF/HACCP/Costco/Spotless and DFSV
- Experience investigating quality assurance issues and conducting audits
