The opportunity:
* Develop and maintain current web applications and content management platforms, primarily using .NET technologies (preferably Umbraco) and PHP (with a focus on WordPress)
* Ensure our websites and related services are secure, reliable, and performant, enabling researchers and staff to access high-quality digital experiences that support scientific discovery
* Collaborate closely with designers and stakeholders to deliver user-centred solutions, applies secure development practices across the software lifecycle
What you'll do
* Own services end-to-end from build through deployment and operational support in a small team
* Design, develop, and maintain web application using .NET technologies (preferably Umbraco CMS)
* Build, customise, and maintain websites and plugins using PHP (with a focus on WordPress)
* Perform basic database administration tasks, including setup, backup, restoration, patching, and performance monitoring (Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL)
* Apply application security best practices throughout the software development lifecycle, including implementing secure coding standards, mitigating vulnerabilities, and addressing security risks
What you'll bring
* Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline; or equivalent industry experience
* Proven industry experience as a Software Engineer or similar role
* Experience developing and deploying web applications into cloud environments (preferably AWS)
* Demonstrated experience delivering technical projects or major features end-to-end
