The SAHMRI Women and Kid’s Theme are seeking a highly motivated Graduate Project Officer to join the Omega-3 team. This role is ideal for a recent graduate who enjoys making things run smoothly and wants to get involved in meaningful research. You’ll support day-to-day administration, including scheduling, meeting logistics, travel, and ordering, while also contributing to research activities such as data collection, literature reviews, reporting, and publications. It’s a hands-on role where you’ll help keep projects on track while building experience across research, clinical trials, and translation initiatives aimed at improving maternal and neonatal health and embedding research into healthcare practice and policy.
About the role
Key responsibilities include:
- Provide day-to-day admin and operational support for the team
- Help plan, coordinate, and report on project activities
- Manage meeting logistics, documentation, and travel
- Support lab operations by ordering equipment and supplies
- Assist with stakeholder engagement, events, and communications
- Coordinate logistics and provide secretariat support for events, committees, and working groups
About You
- A recent graduate (within 2 years) in health, biomedical science, or a related field
- Strong communication and organisation skills, with great attention to detail
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and open to learning new systems
- A team player with a proactive mindset and a genuine interest in supporting work that improves health outcomes
Special Requirements
- Some out of hours’ work may be required.
- DCSI Employment Screening may be required.
- Travel between SAHMRI sites may be required.
- SAHMRI is required to implement the Addressing vaccine preventable disease: Occupational assessment, screening and vaccination policy for SAHMRI employees carrying out work in any SA Health Facility.
- Immunisation Risk for this position is Category C (mínimal patient contact)
