Position Summary
The Simulation Technician reports to the Maintenance Manager (or delegate) and is responsible for performing all preventative and corrective maintenance on training devices in a safe and effective manner. The goal is to ensure maximum availability and reliability of training systems to support successful training outcomes for end users.
As a Simulation Technician, you'll be at the heart of aviation training technology, responsible for maintaining and repairing some of the most advanced flight simulators in the world. These include Level D full flight simulators – devices so realistic they're certified to replace actual flight hours. You'll work hands‐on with complex systems like electromechanical motion platforms, immersive visual environments, and high‐performance computing clusters. When something goes wrong, you'll be the one to diagnose and fix it, ensuring pilots can train without interruption.
Responsibilities
* Execute all maintenance tasks efficiently.
* Ensure maintenance activities comply with internal and external standards / regulatory requirements.
* Support site-based engineering development by assisting with investigations.
* Handle parts shipping in accordance with export control and security protocols.
* Adhere to CAE's Quality Management System and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
* Comply with CAE's Environment, Health and Safety Management System.
Minimum Qualifications
* Technical or trade experience (e.g. electronic technician, electrician, IT, hardware engineering, etc.).
* Ability to gain an NV‐1 Security Clearance (must be an Australian Citizen).
* Flexibility for shift work – hours of operation between 6 am and midnight (shifts are 8 hrs long).
Preferred Qualifications
* Avionics knowledge and experience.
* Aviation and/or Defence industry experience.
* Experience working on simulator devices (nice to have).
Location
RAAF Base Amberley – This is an on‐site role.
