Katherine Town Council is the Municipal Council for the town of Katherine, located in the Northern Territory. Often called the 'Crossroads of the North' because of its location, Katherine is the fourth largest town in the Northern Territory and is located 312km south-east of Darwin on the banks of the Katherine River.
Katherine Town Council delivers Municipal Services to the Katherine Community, this including providing Library services, Airport Management, Waste & Recycling, Roads & Infrastructure, Cemetery, Animals and Regulatory Services, Community events and more
Katherine Town Council is a small organisation of approximately 65 employees that work harmoniously together to ensure Council delivers friendly and efficient services to the residents of Katherine.

Position Summary
This position reports directly to the Manager Environment and Municipal and is responsible for monitoring and operating Council's animal management obligations whilst ensuring compliance and enforcing a wide range of legislative, policy and local law. This position must enforce Council's By-Laws, issuing Council infringements for matters pertaining to the By-Laws and undertaking the role and duties of an authorised officer according to the local law. Undertake animal management initiatives and programs, with emphasis on community education.

Qualifications & Experience
Positions require thorough working knowledge and experience of all work procedures for the application of technical, trades or administrative skills, based upon suitable certificate or post-certificate level qualifications which may include qualifications below diploma or degree, or extensive knowledge and skill gained through on-the-job training in accordance with the requirements of work at this level.
Must Have
* Current Drivers Licence
* Cert IV in Local Government Investigation (or ability to obtain)
* Firearm Licence - A&B (or ability to obtain)
* Qualifications in Animal Management and/ or other related tertiary qualifications
* Accreditation in Behavioural & Training of Dangerous Animals (Dogs)
