* Role 2 - Full-time - Permanent role - 7 days operations
Classification: Municipal Employee Level 5
Agreement: Hobart City Council Enterprise Agreement 2024
Salary range: $71,231 per annum + 13.5% superannuation.

About the role
The position contributes to the implementation of the City of Hobart's Waste Management Strategy by supporting the daily delivery of safe, efficient and cost-effective waste management operations. A particular focus of the role is on rehabilitation of the landfill and enhanced resource recovery.
Role accountabilities include:
* Responsible for the delivery of landfill and transfer station operations, organic recycling, and other waste, recycling, and resource recovery services.
* Coordinate the implementation of landfill rehabilitation plans, including capping, revegetation, and erosion control.
* Operate and maintain plant and equipment at the transfer station in accordance with the plant operation manual and workshop operator's standing instructions.
* Provide information to the general public on effective waste management, disposal, recovery and recycling activities.

Are you a safety‑minded operator who takes pride in keeping sites running smoothly and sustainably? We are looking for a reliable and experienced Waste Management Centre Plant Operator to join our Waste & Circular Economy team.
In this role, you'll be hands‑on across landfill, transfer station, and resource recovery operations, keeping our sites clean, compliant, and welcoming for the community.
You confidently operate plant and equipment, manage traffic safely, and offer friendly guidance to customers doing the right thing with their waste. Your understanding of WHS and environmental requirements helps ensure our sites meet best‑practice standards every day.
Physically fit, proactive, and team‑focused, you bring a strong work ethic and a commitment to improving waste recovery and environmental outcomes. If you care about doing the job well and doing it safely, you'll be a valued member of our team.
We want you on our team with the following mandatory qualifications and experience
* Completion of Certificate III in Waste Management (CPP30719) or the ability to acquire.
* White Card
* Registration to Work with Vulnerable People.
* Demonstrated competency and experience to operate small to medium plant which can include Loader, Excavator, Compactor, Tracked Loader and Heavy Rigid Truck.
