Join NSW Ambulance and play a leading role in delivering digital health initiatives that directly support emergency response and patient care across NSW.

Position Title: Associate Director, Radio Technologies and Telecommunications
Employment Type: Permanent Full-Time
Salary Range: $173,345 - $193,906 per annum + 12% super and benefits (Health Mgr lvl 5)
Location: NSW Ambulance State Operations Centre, Sydney Olympic Park

About the Opportunity

The Associate Director Radio Technologies and Telecommunications is a key leadership role responsible for ensuring NSW Ambulance's radio and telecommunications networks remain reliable, modern and fit for purpose across the state. You will oversee radio maintenance programs, project delivery, governance, risk management, procurement and vendor performance. Working closely with internal executives and the NSW Telco Authority, you will develop strategic work programs, lead business cases and funding submissions, and ensure all radio and telecommunications initiatives support operational readiness. You will also lead a team of technical and project specialists to deliver high-quality outcomes that directly support frontline emergency services.

You're an experienced leader in radio technologies, telecommunications or complex technical programs. You bring strong project management capability, excellent stakeholder management skills and the ability to deliver structured, reliable and sustainable outcomes in fast-paced environments. You excel at building relationships, solving complex technical challenges and guiding diverse teams. Your communication skills allow you to influence, collaborate and align multiple stakeholders toward shared goals.

1. The NSW Public Safety Network (PSN) is a P25 Phase 2 trunked network supporting mission-critical voice and narrowband data services. Describe your experience in interpreting technical documentation (such as Methods of Procedure (MOP) documents) for these types of networks. How would you identify operational risks during the implementation of significant software upgrade works in a public safety radio environment, and what mitigation strategies would you recommend to prevent service-interrupting outages? Please include an example of a time you successfully delivered a similar outcome and outline the strategies you used to overcome any technical issues that arose.

2. You are tasked with leading engagement across NSW Health, NSW Ambulance, and the NSW Telco Authority for a priority cyber security uplift initiative with a fixed delivery deadline. The scope of this work will impact multiple areas of NSW Ambulance's ICT infrastructure, including radio dispatch consoles, radio terminals, in-field communications, and medical technology. How would you:

* Identify key stakeholders across these agencies?
* Understand their operational and business priorities?
* Maintain strategic relationships while managing technical and political challenges?
* Ensure on-time delivery of this critical yet disruptive initiative?
