General manager workforce solutions - madec australia

Adelaide
Hender Consulting
General Manager
Posted: 21 May
Offer description

MADEC Australia is a successful community owned not-for-profit organisation with a proud 50+ year history. Employing around 180 staff across the country and with a turnover circa up to $200m, MADEC delivers employment services, education and training and workforce solutions.

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the General Manager Workforce Solutions will lead MADEC's national workforce division through a significant phase of operational transformation and growth. The Workforce division currently on-hires up to 2,000 workers, which are sourced through both on-shore solutions and the Pacific Australia Labour Mobility (PALM) Scheme.

This is a pivotal, high impact role responsible for reshaping the division's operating model, strengthening commercial performance, modernising systems and processes, and building a scalable platform for future diversification into sectors experiencing skills shortages.

This mandate requires a seasoned operational executive with deep experience leading complex, multi‐site work‐force heavy environments and delivering measurable uplift in performance, operational structure, technology and financial outcomes.

Key responsibilities include:

* developing and executing a comprehensive operational and strategic plan aligned with organisational objectives and future diversification;
* leading a full operational transformation, including redesigning processes, procedures, workflows and organisational structures to improve efficiency, accuracy and scalability;
* driving digital and systems uplift, implementing modern technology solutions that enhance visibility, compliance, workforce deployment efficiency and data‐driven decision making;
* building scalable operating models capable of supporting higher volume labour hire operations and expansion into new sectors;
* identifying and pursuing new market opportunities, including sector diversification and geographic growth;
* delivering measurable improvement margins and profitability through workforce utilisation, pricing discipline, cost control and operational efficiency;
* negotiating and managing major client contracts to ensure long‐term commercial success and service excellence;
* enhancing risk, WHS and compliance frameworks across all operational environments;
* leading cultural and organisational change, building capability, accountability and engagement across a diverse, multi‐site workforce;
* developing high performing teams through coaching, professional development and clear performance expectations;
* integrating with MADEC's employment services and education & training divisions to deliver organisation‐wide outcomes;
* leading and managing the realities of a dispersed, field‐based workforce, including variability in capability, workforce mobility and service delivery across multiple locations;
* leading through experienced Regional Managers, providing clarity, standards and accountability while enabling them to own delivery within their regions.

MADEC is undergoing an exciting phase of transformation and is seeking expressions of interest from general management professionals, not necessarily from the labour hire sector. Professionals with transferrable experience managing large multi‐site and geographically dispersed teams within workforce‐heavy, operational service environments (e.g. retail, facilities management, logistics, workforce services, healthcare or similar) are encouraged to apply. Commercial acumen and strategic thinking combined with strong leadership, relationship building and negotiation skills will be expected. The successful candidate will have a collaborative mindset, high level communication abilities and an absolute commitment to the delivery of exemplary customer service.

Exceptional leadership, commercial acumen, stakeholder management and communication skills are essential. Experience navigating regulatory environments and leading high volume operations will be highly regarded, as will strong knowledge of employment law, WHS and compliance frameworks.

With frequent travel expected, this position can be based in Adelaide, Brisbane or Melbourne.
