About the Division

The Security and Emergency Management Division's purpose is to lead security and emergency management functions for the Department and lead and support educational communities to be physically and psychologically safe through the provision of expert advice and support services.

About the Unit

The Security Unit operates the department's 24/7 Incident Support and Operations Centre responding to alarm and CCTV activations in schools and actioning work orders for the installation and maintenance of the alarm system.

About the role

As a Security Advisor you will provide timely safety & security advice to all Departmental corporate and educational facilities and contribute to the ongoing development of the Department's security risk framework and its application. You will identify safety & security risks and appropriate mitigating strategies that understand the unique position that our educational facilities have within our metropolitan and regional communities.

The role may be required to work shift work and be available outside of business hours to support the department and whole of government emergency management operations. This is anticipated to occur infrequently at times of significant emergencies.

Key Duties

* Engage with relevant stakeholders

* Identify expectations and concerns

* Develop a clear understanding of the issues that our educational facilities have

* Ensure strong and effective emergency management and evacuation procedures are in place for central and regional corporate offices

* Work closely with the Shared Services Provider, the Business Continuity team and security services providers to ensure appropriate plans and process are in place across all corporate offices

* Provide expert advice on personal safety and situational awareness as well as training to principals and senior school leaders.

Requirements

* The position will involve regular travel within Victoria.

* Essential: Current Working with Children Check

* Essential: Victorian Driver's License

* Desirable: Relevant tertiary qualification and/or Certificate IV in Security and Risk Management or equivalent
