Position objectives
This position is responsible for consistently delivering a high standard of professional and knowledgeable information services to tourists in a busy, accredited Visitor Information Centre.
Key responsibility areas
Competently respond to personal and electronic enquiries in a professional and courteous manner.
Maintain daily visitor statistics and assist in undertaking annual visitor satisfaction surveys.
Maintain brochure stocks, displays and keep office area in a neat and orderly fashion.
Participate in familiarisation tours to tourism facilities and attractions as required.
Liaise with council staff on tourism matters.
Assist and support Team Leader Visitor Services in delivery of services and training.
Assist community groups to maximise their use of the Halls Gap Hub Precinct.
Ensure Council's Service Standards are met, customer requests are handled efficiently in a knowledgeable, confidential and timely manner ensuring delivery is responsive, first point issue resolution and customer centric
Model Council values and be an integral member of the customer experience team including participating in team projects, process mapping and review, and proactively responding to customer requests.
Perform, as directed, other duties that are within the limits of the incumbents' skill, competence and training.
Qualifications and experience
Minimum secondary qualification; or knowledge and skills gained through on-the-job training in customer relations or tourism industry.
Selection criteria
Demonstrated experience in a busy customer service environment.
Understanding of local tourism industry
A proven ability to plan and organise work to meet quality standards and manage requests from customers.
The ability to work in a team environment and positively contribute to the team
