We are seeking to establish a pool of Early Childhood Education (ECE) – Teachers (Kindergarten to Year 2) for permanent and fixed‐term, full‐time and part‐time vacancies that may arise during the 2026 school year. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.
Yakamia Primary School (PS) is an Independent Public School located in the community of Albany. The name Yakamia means "Home of the Long Neck Turtle". Our school culture is focused on enabling children to reach their full potential in a caring and supportive environment.
The Role
Dedicated ECE teachers are needed to provide high‐quality early years teaching and engaging learning programs in a supportive and inclusive environment. Applicants should have excellent interpersonal and communication skills to build strong relationships with students and parents, and be committed to achieving the best educational outcomes for our students.
Key responsibilities include:
* Implementing the Western Australian Curriculum, the Early Years Learning Framework and the Kindergarten Curriculum Guidelines;
* Providing meaningful learning opportunities using a balanced approach of explicit teaching strategies, play‐based learning, and a strong focus on Literacy and Numeracy;
* Collaborating in learning phase teams to implement whole‐school strategies as per the School Business Plan;
* Using and implementing PreLit (K) InitiaLit (P‐2) and the iSTAR instructional model to improve student outcomes;
* Differentiating the curriculum to support students at educational risk and special needs students;
* Maintaining an engaging, orderly and caring learning environment, using restorative practices and the Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) strategy.
