Overview
The Team: The Financial Accounting Team is part of the Budget and Finance Unit. The main objective of the Team is to ensure that the Department meets all statutory reporting obligations and deadlines. The main output of the Team are the annual audited statutory accounts. The Team is also responsible for oversight of the Department's Financial Management System, accounting policies and compliance with Australian Accounting Standards. The Team submits financial information to the Department of Treasury and Finance, coordinates the annual financial audit with Audit Tasmania, and provides timely information to the Budget and Finance Sub-Committee and the Audit and Risk Committee. The Team maintains the Department's Asset and Leasing registers, including the capitalisation of construction projects and the integrity of the Financial Management system.
You will need
* Demonstrated involvement in preparing financial statements within a large and complex organisation.
* Excellent communication and organisational skills in order to successfully co-ordinate the numerous information sources required to prepare the Department's financial statements.
* Excellent information technology skills including experience in interrogating a large and complex financial management system.
Responsibilities
* Prepare the Department's financial reports, ensuring they are compliant with the Model Departmental Financial Statements and presented within the legislative deadlines.
* Ensure the integrity of the Financial Management system and that the Department successfully submits electronic financial reports to the Department of Treasury and Finance.
* Act as a key liaison between the Department and Audit Tasmania as well as the Department of Treasury and Finance.
Details of appointment
Permanent, day worker, working 76 hours per fortnight. Commencing as soon as possible.
* Notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Salary
$107,899 to $122,292 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
Eligibility
Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.
* Relevant tertiary qualifications, together with membership of, or eligible for membership of, either CPA Australia, the Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand or the Institute of Public Accountants.
