Primary objective
As a member of the housekeeping team, under the direction of the Housekeeping Supervisor provide an efficient and
effective Housekeeping Service for Katherine Hospital ensuring Infection Control procedures and guideline are followed.
Key duties and responsibilities
Provide high quality cleaning services and specific associated duties in accordance with Infection Control standards,
Environmental Cleaning and Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) work practices. Ensure all duties are performed in a
timely and satisfactory manner. Ensure CQI with quality integrated into all service activities consistent with the Work Unit
Business Plan and Katherine Hospital's Strategic Plan. Participate in Housekeeping Services Team meetings, Staff Education
and Performance Development Program (PDP) when required. Follow defined service quality standards, work health and
safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken in order to ensure high quality, safe services, and
workplaces.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated good communication skills (oral, reading, writing, and comprehending English), appropriate for work
environment.
2. Demonstrated relevant cleaning experience and working knowledge of commercial cleaning methods within a hospital,
or health environment including COVID 19 with proven working knowledge of Infection Control procedures and
guidelines.
1. Must be punctual, reliable and be prepared to work evening shifts, weekends, public holidays, and to rotate through
various work areas of the hospital as required.
1. Demonstrated physical ability to undertake cleaning duties including the use of industrial cleaning equipment, safe
handling of chemicals and transporting of waste to designated collection points.
1. Demonstrated capacity to organise and prioritise workloads and to complete delegated activities with minimal
supervision.
1. Commitment to teamwork within a diverse cultural and multidisciplinary environment including the ability to interact
effectively with people from diverse cultures.
1. Demonstrated capacity to work with minimal supervision and maintain confidentiality.
2. Ability to comply with WHS policies and COVID 19 Infection Control Guidelines.
