Seeking proven leadership experience gained in a complex environmentLead the risk, compliance and resilience functionsThe Department of Justice and Community Safety (the department) is seeking a Director Assurance to provide executive leadership for the Data, Performance and Governance portfolio.About the Business Unit The Corporate Strategy and Delivery Group is an enabling function delivering Finance, People, Safety and Culture, Strategic Communication, Infrastructure, Data, Performance and Governance, and Information Technology Solutions to support the Department. The group provides strategic and operational support, delivers essential corporate services, and leads continuous improvement and performance oversight of corporate functions.Reporting to the Executive Director, Governance and Assurance within the Corporate Strategy and Delivery Group, the Director, Assurance leads a range of governance, risk, audit, compliance and assurance services required for the department to meet its obligations under the Financial Management Act 1994 and associated Standing Directions, and other key legislative and policy accountabilities in relation to risk management, insurance, audit, business continuity and emergency management. The Director is also responsible for ensuring the department meets its specific legislative obligations under the Freedom of Information Act 1982 (FOI), and its role as lead agency in providing support for FOI governance across the Victorian public sector.About the Role Some of your duties will include:Lead the department's risk, compliance, and resilience functions in accordance with the Financial Management Act 1994 and Victorian government's Risk Management Framework.Proactively identify and develop strategic solutions to address emerging corporate risks.Effectively manage the department's relationship with the Victorian Auditor General's Office (VAGO).Manage the planning and execution of internal and external audits and reviews and oversee the effective management of resulting recommendations and actions and reporting requirements.Manage the department's insurance requirements in consultation with the Victorian Management Insurance Agency.Oversee the provision of secretariat services for independent governance and assurance monitors, panels and committees as required.Lead the department's Freedom of Information (FOI) functions, ensuring compliance with the FOI Act and associated policies and procedures.Lead the department's business continuity planning and preparedness, providing resources, tools and support for departmental groups and business units to identify and manage business continuity risks.To learn more about this role before applying, please read the attached position description.About you To be successful in this role, you will have:Demonstrated strong knowledge and understanding of Victorian government regulatory, governance and risk assurance principles and requirements, including the Financial Management Act 1994, Standing Directions 2018, Risk Management Framework and the Freedom of Information Act 1982.Demonstrated strong executive leadership, strategic thinking and analytical skills to positively contribute to the senior executive team and develop innovative solutions to complex and/or sensitive issues.High-level communication and interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to influence and provide authoritative advice at ministerial and senior executive levels.Qualifications/ RequirementsA relevant tertiary qualification in the field of law, risk management, regulation, or public administration is highly desiredHow to Apply Please click the Apply button on this advertisement.
