The APVMA's Veterinary Medicines Program is seeking applications for a Senior Evaluator, Efficacy and Safety to employ their technical proficiency and expertise in the preparation and evaluation of important scientific assessments and advice.
Located in either Canberra ACT or regional Armidale NSW, you will gain experience in the Australian Public Service, have access to a variety of flexible working arrangements, and contribute to assessments affecting human, animal and environment safety and efficacy.
The Role
* Provide timely technical advice on efficacy and target animal safety matters relating to the regulation of veterinary chemicals.
* Review Efficacy and Target animal safety assessments for veterinary chemicals, provide advice regarding assessments, provide advice regarding suitable external service providers for assessments, and provide quality oversight of reports considering APVMA principles of regulatory science quality and relevant international best practices
* Facilitate cooperation and partnerships with external service providers on efficacy and target animal safety assessments, while working with internal and external clients and stakeholders.
Our ideal candidate
To be a strong contender for the role, you will have:
1. Demonstrated high-level written and oral communication skills, including the ability to prepare and present complex documents, ability to communicate clearly and confidently with clients, staff, and service providers to establish and maintain internal and external networks, and to represent the APVMA in a variety of forums.
2. Demonstrated high-level Research and Development and/or Manufacturing experience in an area related to pharmaceutical or veterinary and/or agricultural chemicals.
3. Demonstrated expertise and experience in the interpretation and evaluation of scientific data and information in an area relevant to chemistry and manufacturing technology of pharmaceutical active constituents and formulated products.
4. Well-developed interpersonal, planning, organisational and teamwork skills, including the ability to determine workflow priorities and assume responsibility for delivery of organisational goals while maintaining a focus on quality and a cohesive team environment.
5. Ability to solve problems, pay close attention to detail, and make decisions based on sound science and risk analysis.
6. Tertiary qualifications in veterinary medicine, biological sciences (e.g., zoology, immunology, biochemistry, pharmacology), or animal science.
