**About the Job**
Pedestrian Group, Australia's largest youth-focused publisher, is seeking an experienced and innovative Publisher to lead our award-winning network of brands: PEDESTRIAN.TV, Refinery29, VICE, Lifehacker, Kotaku, Gizmodo and The Chainsaw (our Web3-focused publication, launching in late August).
Reporting directly to the CEO, this executive leadership role will be responsible for the editorial vision and direction of our ever-evolving publishing portfolio, as well as our inhouse native and e-commerce content teams.
This is a rare opportunity for an experienced editorial director with outstanding decision-making and strategic skills, a deep understanding of audience acquisition, excellent commercial judgement and a hunger to build best-in-market brands that speak to their audiences in a way no one else can.
This is a full-time permanent position based out of Pedestrian Group's HQ in Surry Hills, Sydney.
**Job Description**:
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Lead, manage and develop the editorial vision and brand presence of all brands within the Pedestrian Group network (both present and future)
- Oversee a team of 45+ talented editors and writers, directly managing the Heads of Editorial for PEDESTRIAN.TV, Refinery29, VICE, Lifehacker, Kotaku, Gizmodo and The Chainsaw
- Work collaboratively with the Audience Growth team on an evolving acquisition strategy that ensures the continued diversification of traffic sources across all brands
- Guide native content partnerships and execution to ensure high-quality outcomes that result in return business
- Identify, recruit and retain the brightest emerging talent within Australia's digital publishing landscape
- Drive the ideation and execution of editorial packages and formats that help drive positive revenue and EBITDA outcomes for the business
- Work collaboratively with the Heads of Editorial to drive innovation across all distribution channels, ensuring the mix of content is on brand, future-facing, and aligned with audience insights and growth initiatives
- Represent the Group in the market as required, including interviews with trade press and other media
- Effectively manage significant departmental budget touching written content production, photography and design
- Undertake marketing duties for the Group as required (writing, editing press releases etc)
- Work collaboratively with the wider executive team - including the Commercial Director and Executive Creative Director - to meet, and exceed, the business' overall objectives
**Qualifications**:
**About you**
- Ideally have a Tertiary qualification in journalism or a related discipline
- Have proven and extensive experience in a senior leadership role in publishing
- Bring proven experience launching digital media brands and/or large-scale initiatives
- Be skilled at coaching, mentoring, and guiding an editorial and/or content team
- Demonstrate capacity to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
- Have excellent commercial awareness and instincts
- Have Superb verbal and written communication skills
- Have the ability to work irregular hours when required
- Ideally have experience in youth publishing (not mandatory, but looked upon favourably)
