About the role
As a Maintenance Carpenter at Hunter Projects, you will be responsible for carrying out a variety of maintenance tasks to Social Housing properties in our serviceable area across the Hunter Valley. This full-time role is an integral part of our maintenance team and requires a skilled and versatile carpenter who can take on a range of duties.
What you'll be doing
* Perform maintenance, repairs and installations on residential dwellings - including but not limited to doors, windows, floors, cabinetry etc
* Diagnose and troubleshoot property maintenance-related issues, and implement effective solutions
* Read and interpret work orders, scope of works (SOW) and sketches to complete tasks accurately
* Collaborate with other tradespeople, such as electricians and plumbers, to coordinate maintenance projects
* Maintain a safe and organised work environment, following all health and safety protocols
* Provide on-the-job training and mentorship to junior team members
* Keep detailed records of work completed and materials used
What we're looking for
* Applicant to hold a current NSW drivers licence
* Ideal - experience with Social Housing/facilities maintenance work
* Formal qualification in carpentry or a related trade
* Minimum 3 years' on-site maintenance experience
* Problem-solving and critical thinking skills to identify and resolve issues on-the-fly
* Attention to detail and the ability to work from technical drawings and specifications
* Demonstrated experience in a diverse range of maintenance tasks including carpentry, plastering, painting, flooring, and general refurbishment/renovation work
* Proficient with hand and power tools, and knowledge of building codes and regulations
* Effectively demonstrate discretion & empathy when liaising with clients from varied backgrounds
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with team members, sub-contractors & clients
* Commitment to workplace health and safety, with a proactive approach to risk management
