This is an incredibly exciting time for a visible, agile and high performing Corrective Services leader to join the Northern Territory's Department of Corrections as General Manager Territory Wide Operations.
This vital leadership position will continue the transformational journey of the Department and its expansion to provide strategic leadership, direction and management, ensuring the delivery of a standardised and consistent Territory-wide prison system.
Critically, it will include the oversight of security, risk, policy and operations for Adult Operations, aligning with statutory, agency and budgetary requirements.

The Opportunity – General Manager Territory Wide Operations
This role has particular focus on security, incident management and reporting, emergency response management, specialist operational training support and advice and proactive risk management.

As General Manager you will
Provide high‑quality strategic direction, leadership and management of the Territory‑wide operations team in line with the NTCS operating philosophy, strategic plan, budget and a culturally sensitive environment.
Lead the provision of specialist advice on operational matters relating to correctional practice across the Territory‑wide community corrections and prison system, including oversight of associated risks and management of controls, in relation to major incidents, disturbances and security breaches.
Collaborate with General Managers, Regional Directors and Area Managers to promote and implement best practice in Territory‑wide operations.
Consult with a range of other key internal and external personnel, including Deputy Commissioners and Assistant Commissioners, in relation to operational issues.
Establish and deliver systems and practices to record and report on statutory obligations and compliance of operational performance, human resource management, and financial activities.
Provide support and operational leadership in the development and consultation of critical infrastructure works associated with relevant elements of the Department's master infrastructure plan.
Your Experience
Transfer here your proven strategic leadership skills in a multi‑disciplinary custodial environment with the ability to develop and manage innovative solutions to complex operational issues.
You will possess senior level experience in the management of physical and dynamic security operations which provide for a safe work environment, whilst maximising prisoner engagement in education, programs, employment and reintegration opportunities.
Additionally, you will have demonstrated experience managing significant financial and physical resources, practice innovation and a history of influencing change and reform to deliver continuous improvement and capability building.
Critical to success will be your history of fostering partnerships across broad ranging stakeholders (both internal and external), so services are delivered organisation wide.
As a General Manager working across Adult Operations and engaging with people, you will model and embody the Department of Corrections values – professional excellence, integrity and courage, respect and commitment, and accountability.
