Newcastle
University Of Newcastle
Posted: 12h ago
Offer description

* Autonomy with support – manage your own events while partnering on major flagship activities
* Small, high-performing team – close collaboration, strong culture, and real influence on how things are done
* End-to-end ownership – see your events come to life from concept through to delivery and evaluation

The role

Are you someone who thrives on bringing events to life—from the first idea through to the final pack down? Join a small, high-performing team where you'll play a hands-on role delivering a diverse portfolio of engaging events across the University.

As an Events and Engagement Coordinator, you'll coordinate and deliver events end-to-end, working closely with internal and external stakeholders to create memorable experiences for staff, students and the wider community. From corporate functions and public lectures to large-scale recruitment events like Open Day, no two days will look the same.

Working alongside the Events and Engagement Specialist, you'll take ownership of your own events while also collaborating on major, high-profile activities. This role is key to supporting the team's delivery and ensuring events run smoothly across both the Newcastle and Central Coast campuses.

What you'll do:

* Coordinate and deliver a range of University events from concept to completion
* Manage all aspects of event logistics including planning, documentation, risk assessments and on-the-day delivery
* Work closely with internal teams, suppliers and external stakeholders to bring events together
* Support the delivery of major University events as part of a small, collaborative team
* Oversee casual event staff and ensure all stakeholders are well briefed
* Monitor budgets and contribute to post-event evaluation and continuous improvement
* Contribute ideas and creative input to enhance event experiences and engagement outcomes

This continuing position is full time at a HEW6 Higher Education Worker level and is based at Callaghan.

About you

You're organised, proactive and enjoy working in a fast-paced, hands-on environment. You're equally comfortable behind the scenes planning logistics as you are on the ground making things happen.

Qualifications

* Demonstrated experience coordinating events from start to finish
* Strong organisational and administrative skills, with attention to detail
* Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
* A collaborative, approachable style and ability to work effectively in a small team
* The ability to manage competing priorities and adapt in a dynamic environment
* A current driver's licence and willingness to travel between campuses

Things to consider

This is a hands-on role that involves physical event set-up and pack-down, as well as occasional out-of-hours work aligned to event delivery.

What we offer

In addition to working for a university that is breaking boundaries, discovering new ways of thinking and cementing a place as a global leader, we offer a range of benefits to our employees to ensure you balance your commitments, stay healthy and work effectively.

These include:

* Remuneration of $93,929 – $103,641 + superannuation and excellent employment conditions in line with University of Newcastle professional staff conditions.

* 35‐hour week
* 17% super and salary packaging
* Additional University Holiday days, generous personal leave and parental leave, annual leave loading and additional purchased leave scheme
* Discounts in private health insurance, gym memberships, software, travel and more
* Wellbeing programs
