Overview
The Role
As the Events and Engagement Coordinator you will work under limited direction to coordinate a range of events and award functions predominately at the Defence Science and Technology Group (DSTG). Your role will include but is not limited to:
- Stakeholder engagement with Defence personnel, VIPs and strategic partners
- Drafting communication materials associated with events including but not limited to marketing materials, talking points, run sheets, MC notes, social media posts and briefs
- Coordinating strategically-aligned event and visit programs and experiences, including all logistics, security and access requirements
- Comprehensive record keeping and reporting
- Representing DSTG at events, escorting and supporting site visits as required
- Supporting the Assistant Director Events and Awards for locally based award presentations and nominations
- Being part of a supportive, geographically dispersed team, but staying in regular contact with the full team virtually.

As a multidisciplinary team of trusted communication experts, Defence Science Communications works with all parts of DSTG as an advisory body, service provider and conduit of information. We foster relationships with key stakeholders internally and externally to benefit DSTG and Defence through open communication and information sharing across personal and qualified networks.

Defence Science Communications consists of five teams located at DSTG’s major sites of Fisherman's Bend (VIC), Edinburgh (SA) and Fairbairn (ACT). The teams consist of:
- Strategic communications
- Events, Visits, Awards and Sponsorships
- ADSTAR and Major Events
- Digital
- Design, Production and S&T; Publications.

Our Ideal Candidate
You will be an event all-rounder, self-motivated individual who has impeccable stakeholder engagement, organisational, communication and project management skills.
You will be a problem solver who can react proactively and excel under pressure and in constant changing environments, whilst delivering and keeping the project plan on time.
Largely working autonomously, you will liaise with external and internal stakeholders to develop visit programs, having the ability to communicate at all levels and tailor your communication to meet the required needs. You will use initiative and be open to developing new and improved ways of working and constantly looking for ways to improve our service offering to ensure our output is of the highest order. Experience with event management, VIP coordination and liaison or awards program management will be highly desirable.
