About the Role
You will be responsible for a team of 4 laboratory technicians that are batch testing products for compliance with Australian and International standards for steel composition, mechanical properties, coating composition and corrosion. You will oversee the metallurgy testing and certification processes, liaise with clients and handle customer complaints, initiate CAPA's and assist in design elements of new products.
Skills and Experience
Ideally you will have at least 4 years' experience working in a quality control environment, preferrable in a metal manufacturing or steel fabrication operation, and demonstrate hands on skills with heat treatment analysis, steel mechanical properties and testing regimes. You will be degree qualified in either mechanical engineering, metallurgy, and/or materials science and have experience in a NATA accredited laboratory. With client interaction and people management, it would be expected that you are a clear communicator who enjoys sharing knowledge and has strong attention to detail. You will be someone who is capable of leading a small team who can develop capability internally and make process improvements.
