As a Management Accountant, you will play a key role in managing a portfolio of clients, owning month-end close process, ensuring financial data is accurate, complete and ready for reporting, while overseeing the delivery of day-to-day bookkeeping through junior and offshore team members.
This role plays an important link between transactional finance and reporting, takes ownership of financial integrity and provides clear, practical insights to clients and internal stakeholders. While the role is primarily review and oversight, the ability to engage in hands‐on work where needed is essential, particularly during onboarding, clean‐ups or transition periods.
Key duties & responsibilities
Client Ownership
* Manage a portfolio of clients and act as a key point of contact
* Identify and resolve issues, ensuring timely and accurate delivery
Month-End Close
* Own the end‐to‐end month‐end process
* Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations, journals and adjustments (including accruals, prepayments, loans and provisions)
* Ensure financials are complete, accurate and ready for reporting
Review & Team Coordination
* Review and direct work completed by junior and offshore team members
* Provide feedback and maintain high quality standards
* Drive efficient workflows and transition of transactional work to offshore teams
Hands‐On Support
* Assist with clean‐ups, onboarding and complex items where work is not yet review‐ready
* Support process improvements and system enhancements
Reporting & Compliance
* Prepare monthly financial reports and highlight key movements or issues
* Oversee payroll tax, superannuation, STP and related compliance obligations
What we are looking for:
* 5+ years' experience in management accounting, assistant accounting or senior bookkeeping
* Strong experience owning month‐end close and balance sheet reconciliations
* Solid understanding of Australian compliance requirements
* Advanced Xero and strong Excel skills
* Experience reviewing and directing others' work
* Confident communicator with client‐facing experience
* High attention to detail and strong ownership mindset
