Role Overview
Inverell Shire Council is looking for an individual to join the Northern Section of our Civil Engineering team as a Bitumen Patching Ganger / Driver. The role involves responsibility for a range of maintenance and construction projects, including the supervision of a specialist patching unit and operation of one of Council's heavy trucks.
About Inverell Shire Council and the Civil Services team
Under the direction of the Manager Civil Engineering, the Civil Services team supports Inverell Shire Council's services to the community.
* Construction and ongoing maintenance of assets including roads, stormwater pipes, bridges, parks, gardens and other assets.
* Road maintenance and repair service for Inverell and surrounding communities.
* Truck drivers form part of a larger team that includes specialist plant operators, tradespeople, labourers and contractors across various specialties.
* Support other Council areas in day‐to‐day operations, including emergency and disaster response, event support and more.

Selection Criteria
Essential Criteria
Qualifications
* NSW School Certificate/Record of School Achievement or equivalent education standard.
* Successful completion of an approved course for Supervisors, or relevant experience supervising a civil works team.
* Experience managing contractors.
* NSW Class HR driver's licence.
* Formal training in truck operations or satisfactory industry experience.
* SafeWork NSW Traffic Controller Certificate or Traffic Control Work Training Card.
* SafeWork NSW General Construction Induction card (White Card).
Desirable Criteria
Qualifications
* Work safely in the vicinity of live electrical apparatus as a non‐electrical worker accreditation.
* Implement Traffic Control Plans Certificate.
Employment Terms
Employment will be in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Local Government (State) Award 2023. The classification for the position is up to Administrative/Technical/Trades Band 1, Level 4, Grade 7. Salary range is $1,190.10 to $1,281.53 per week, plus a Level 1 adverse working conditions allowance of $0.513 per hour where applicable.
