Medical Device Processing Technician
The Operating Room Suite at a hospital in North Tasmania is seeking skilled Medical Device Processing Technicians to work with reusable medical equipment. These technicians will be responsible for identifying, handling, decontaminating, packaging, sterilizing, and dispatching medical devices distributed to the Operating Room Suite, internal wards, and departments, as well as external customers.
This role requires knowledge of sterilization technology and/or relevant qualifications in Sterilising Technology or willingness to undertake a course. The successful applicant must have a thorough understanding of instruments/equipment processed in the sterilizing department and be able to initiate appropriate actions following decontamination and sterilization protocols.
Key Responsibilities:
* Identify, handle, decontaminate, package, sterilize, and dispatch reusable medical devices.
* Distribute processed medical devices to the Operating Room Suite, internal wards/departments, and external customers.
* Review the job description and address selection criteria as required by the vacancy notice.
* Adhere to infection control principles applicable to the sterilisation department processes and procedures as guided by AS5369:2023 Standard.
* Participate in multidisciplinary team activities and adhere to department policies and procedures.
Qualifications and Requirements:
To be successful in this role, applicants must hold or be willing to work towards relevant qualifications in Sterilising Technology or a related field. They will also require strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
