Role overviewWe are seeking an experienced ecologist or senior ecologist with a passion for botany and experience in flora surveys, to be a part of our NSW team.In this role, you will support our team to deliver robust biodiversity assessments for a range of projects.
This role involves undertaking field-based survey work, including targeted threatened species surveys, and preparing reports.You will have the opportunity to contribute to meaningful projects, work with an experienced team of industry leaders and help shape positive environmental outcomes.What you will do (key responsibilities)Undertake field-based flora and fauna survey work, including vegetation mapping, floristic surveys and targeted threatened species surveys in accordance with the Biodiversity Assessment Method (BAM) as well as methods set out under the Nature Repair Market (NRM).
Lead projects across a wide range of geographies and clients including management of technical and financial performance.Work positively, in a team-based environment, in the planning, delivery and management of ecology surveys, analysis and evaluation of results, impact assessments, and the design and implementation of successful mitigation strategies.Help shape and drive the positive team-based culture of our business and make Nature Positive Advisory a great place to work.Maintain a high level of knowledge of ecological practice.Offer guidance and mentorship to junior staff.What you will bring (your skills)Tertiary qualifications in ecology, environmental science, biology, or related discipline.Minimum 3 years' relevant experience.BAM accreditation, or desire to achieve accreditation, would be preferred.Expertise in flora identification, with experience in identification of threatened species and ecological communities.Working knowledge of NSW and Commonwealth environmental legislation.Experience planning, coordinating, and leading large-scale field surveys.Ability and motivation to travel throughout NSW and undertake field surveys.Positive energy and passion for your profession.The ability to make a positive contribution to team culture.To be eligible for this position, you must have legal work rights to work in Australia.See the position description attached below for further information about this role.
