Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and influential Health and Safety Manage to join the team in Mayfield West.
This is a strategic and hands‐on leadership role responsible for shaping HSE governance, strengthening risk management systems, and driving a high‐performing safety culture across multi‐site operations.
You will partner closely with senior leaders, providing expert guidance, assurance, and challenge to ensure HSE excellence is embedded into all aspects of the business.
Key responsibilities include, however, are not limited to:
* Translate enterprise HSE strategy into practical frameworks, systems, and standards.
* Lead the development and continuous improvement of the HSE management system.
* Provide independent assurance and constructive challenge across operational activities.
* Influence and support senior leadership to foster a strong and proactive safety culture.
* Lead or support HSE due diligence activities for mergers and acquisitions.
* Assess HSE maturity, risk exposure, compliance, and systems within target organisations.
* Develop and implement integration plans aligning acquired businesses to corporate HSE standards.
* Design and maintain enterprise risk management methodologies and critical control frameworks.
* Lead internal audits, assurance programs, and reviews of high‐potential incidents.
* Ensure robust data governance, validation, and performance reporting processes.
* Support operational leaders in identifying systemic risks and implementing effective controls.
* Lead or assure high‐quality investigations into serious or high‐potential incidents.
* Coach and uplift capability across HSE teams and operational leadership.
* Engage and influence stakeholders at all levels to strengthen HSE ownership and accountability.
* Analyse HSE performance data to identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities.
Qualifications
The ideal applicant will have:
* Degree in Health & Safety, Risk, Engineering, Science, or a related discipline.
* Lead Auditor qualification (ISO 45001) highly regarded.
* Significant experience in a senior HSE leadership role.
* Proven track record in developing and implementing HSE systems, frameworks, and assurance programs.
* Strong experience in leading or quality‐assuring complex incident investigations.
* Demonstrated ability to influence senior leaders and drive cultural change.
* Experience supporting HSE due diligence and integration in mergers & acquisitions.
* Exposure to multi‐site or regional operations (Australia/PNG highly regarded).
* Background in high‐risk industries such as mining, laboratories, logistics, infrastructure, manufacturing, or technical services.
