Overview Clinical Director ED/Clinical Director GPA/GP Rural Generalists (multiple) – multiple roles in a unique rural setting with attractive remuneration and lifestyle benefits.
Locations and roles Clinical Director of Emergency Medicine (VAC – 60 bed hospital; leadership in emergency medicine; exposure to tropical medicine, trauma, and comorbid conditions; on-site teaching and possible academic status with a rural medicine focus.
Clinical Director of GP Anaesthetics (VAC – leading rural generalist, GP Anaesthetist or FANZCA; mix of anaesthetics, ED and general practice; includes roster management, governance, and trainee supervision.
Rural Generalist roles (VAC – roles across general practice with potential exposure to emergency medicine; opportunities for short-term (minimum 3 months) or longer engagements.
What you'll do Provide clinical leadership and direct clinical services in a rural hospital setting.
Work across emergency, anaesthetics, GP practice, and perioperative planning as applicable.
Contribute to roster management, clinical governance, policy development, and teaching of junior doctors and medical students.
Collaborate with a larger metropolitan hospital service and retrieve services; engage with communities including an Airforce base and visiting tourists.
Eligibility and qualifications Hold work rights in Australia (or equivalent – specialists in emergency, anaesthetics or general practice in Australia, NZ or UK; other countries not deemed equivalent).
Medical qualifications appropriate to the role; interest in rural health.
For Clinical Director of Emergency: FACEM or FACRRM/FRACGP or equivalent with advanced emergency medicine training.
For GP Anaesthetics: RG, GPA or FANZCA or equivalent; willingness to work across Anaesthetics, ED and general practice; include one anaesthetics referee.
For Rural Generalist roles: FACRRM or FRACGP with advanced skills in anaesthetics, obstetrics, emergency medicine, mental health, rural medicine, or related specialty.
Remuneration and terms Salary ranges: Emergency ($454k–$617k TRP), GP Anaesthetics ($392k–$480k plus shift penalties and on-call allowances), Rural Generalist ($367k–$448k TRP).
Short-term contracts available (minimum 3 months); rosters can be arranged to suit lifestyle; relocation and initial accommodation may be provided; professional development and rural attraction allowances included where applicable.
Roles are onsite with opportunities for leadership and teaching within a supportive network.
