About the Role

In this role, you will promote the independence and healthy development of families in the Barwon-South West Region, by delivering evidence based parent programs that enhance parental knowledge and skills and promote positive parent-child interactions and relationships. The areas of education range from early childhood through primary school and teenage years. A key focus with this role is the facilitation of Dad programs in collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders and applications from males are strongly encouraged.

Work Type: Casual

Classification: Band 6 $47.05 per hour (plus casual loading)

Responsibilities

* Develop and conduct evidence based parent education programs and activities based on current research regarding parenting practices.
* Provide appropriate referrals to families (as identified in group activities) requiring additional assistance and support.
* Manage all administration and documentation associated with the delivery of group parent education activities facilitated in accordance with funding guidelines and quality processes.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will be experienced in the delivery of training programs, along with experience working directly with parents and families and exposure to CALD communities. You will ideally be trained in programs that we deliver (e.g. Positive Parenting Program (PPP), Bringing Up Great Kids), have high levels of empathy/compassion, be respectful and open to working with a diverse range of people.

Essential

* Tertiary qualifications with experience in the human services, social sciences or education including Social Work, Psychology, Nursing – Community or Public Health.
* Experience in developing and conducting group Parent Education and/or support activities.
* Knowledge of the basic stages of child development (especially social and emotional) and the issues relevant to parents at these stages.
* Understanding of the principles of, and commitment to family-centred practice.
* Ability to engage and cater for the needs of parents from a range of culturally diverse and socio-economic backgrounds.
* Current Victorian Working with Children's Check
* Training in evidence based parent education programs is highly regarded.
* Preferred candidates will be required to undergo a National Police Check as part of the recruitment process (funded by the City).
