Purpose of the Role
BGIS is seeking an experienced Electrical Technician to provide planned and reactive maintenance for all electrical systems, including switchboards, power and lighting circuits and their respective electrical fixtures. You'll work alongside other technicians, Team Leaders and Facilities Managers to ensure operational excellence, safety, and compliance across a major healthcare facility.
The ideal candidate is technically skilled, adaptable, safety-focused, a willingness to learn and enjoys mentoring apprentices while contributing to a supportive team culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform electrical maintenance and emergency repairs.
- Complete work orders efficiently and within deadlines.
- Mentor and develop apprentices to enhance their technical skills.
- Support other electrical technicians.
- Participate in on‑call roster as required.
- Ensure compliance with BGIS systems (QMS, OH&S;, EMS) and contractual KPIs.
- Promote safety, report hazards, and participate in safety initiatives.
- Foster positive relationships with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in service delivery.
- Support HV Switching programs after training completed.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- Electrical Fitter Mechanic Licence
- LVR / CPR
- White Card and Elevated Work Platform (EWP) certification.
- 1–5 years' electrical maintenance experience
- Certificate III in Electrotechnology
- Strong problem‑solving, communication, and customer service skills.
- Strong understanding of Electrical Standards AS/NZS3000
- Able to read Electrical Schematic Drawings
- Able to use an iPhone and iPad
Desirable
- Experience mentoring apprentices.
- Previous experience with a CMMS such as ASTEA.
- Knowledge of allied trades (plumbing, refrigeration) anli>
- High Voltage (HV) Switching ticket or willingness to train.
- PLC fault finding experience.
