About the Role
The Clinical Nurse Specialist position in our Cardiothoracic & Cardiology ward is a key role that requires a strong commitment to excellence in patient care. We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced RN/CNS who can provide leadership and guidance to our team.
As part of our dynamic 24-bed unit, you will work closely with other healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive care to patients with varying complexities of cardiology and cardiothoracic care needs. You will be responsible for procedures managed on the ward, including pre and postoperative coronary angiograms +/- stents, PPM's, ICD's, EPS +/- ablations, PVI, VATS +/- anatomical resections, pleurodesis, biopsies, and more.
In this role, you will also contribute to quality improvement initiatives, provide education to colleagues, and participate in departmental meetings. You will be expected to maintain accurate records and communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
You will be reporting to the Nurse Unit Manager, working collaboratively with the Department Manager, Team and Shift Leaders to ensure a high level of quality patient care is delivered in line with the hospital's care values and strategic direction.
About You
* Current registration with the AHPRA
* Minimum 5 years recent Cardiology experience working in a ward/unit of this specialty
* Ability to interpret complex ECGs and escalate clinical needs accordingly
* Extensive experience in managing and teaching about cardiology-specific concepts
* Confidence in troubleshooting and escalating the complex needs of the Cardiology Patient
* A passion for mentoring and educating nursing staff working within the cardiothoracic setting
* Accredited in Advanced Life support
* Postgraduate qualifications in Critical Care (cardiac) or working towards
