Overview

Westcoast BMW is seeking an experienced and driven Workshop Controller to lead daily workshop operations and ensure the highest standards of technical excellence, productivity and customer satisfaction. This is a key leadership role within our Aftersales team, suited to a senior technician or experienced controller ready to step into a premium brand environment.

The Role

As Workshop Controller, you will be responsible for coordinating daily workshop workflow, maximising technician productivity, and ensuring all repairs are completed efficiently and to BMW manufacturer standards.

You will work closely with the Service Manager, Advisors, Technicians and Parts Department to ensure seamless operations and an outstanding customer experience.

Key Responsibilities

* Workshop Operations
o Coordinate daily workflow and allocate jobs based on technician skill and availability
o Monitor workshop productivity, utilisation and efficiency
o Prioritise urgent and customer-waiting jobs
o Conduct quality control checks on completed work
o Ensure repairs are completed within promised timeframes
* Technical Oversight
o Ensure all repairs comply with BMW manufacturer procedures
o Provide technical guidance and support to technicians
o Assist in diagnosing complex faults where required
o Maintain high workmanship standards and minimise comebacks
o Ensure warranty compliance and documentation accuracy
* Performance & Leadership
o Maximise workshop output and labour sales
o Monitor technician performance and identify training needs
o Support the Service Manager in achieving key workshop KPIs including:
+ Labour efficiency and utilisation
+ Workshop throughput
+ Comeback reduction
+ Customer satisfaction
* Safety & Compliance
o Maintain a safe, clean and organised workshop
o Ensure WHS compliance and correct use of tools and equipment

About You

You are a qualified Automotive Technician with strong diagnostic capability and leadership experience in a dealership or prestige environment.

Essential

* Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology (or equivalent)
* Minimum 5 years' workshop experience
* Strong diagnostic and technical knowledge
* Experience in a dealership or prestige automotive environment

Highly regarded

* Previous Workshop Controller or Leading Hand experience
* European or prestige brand experience
* Familiarity with BMW systems (e.g. ISTA)
* Experience using a Dealership Management System (DMS)
