About Us
Hunter Valley Lower Mid North Coast Mental Health Service is a key service within the district's Mental Health Network, delivering high-quality care to people experiencing severe and complex mental health challenges. We support individuals living with mood disorders, psychosis, eating disorders, personality disorders, and the effects of significant life events — always with a recovery-oriented, person-centred approach.
Our Service Includes
* Community-based mental health teams
* A 24-bed acute psychiatric unit at Maitland Hospital
* A 20-bed acute psychiatric unit at Manning Base Hospital
This integrated model ensures seamless care — from home-based treatment to inpatient support and post-discharge follow-up. We serve communities across Maitland, Dungog, Cessnock, Singleton, Muswellbrook, Upper Hunter, Taree, Forster, Gloucester, Bulahdelah and surrounding Lower Mid North Coast regions.
The Opportunity
This is a dynamic, community-based role where no two weeks look the same.
You Will
* Deliver assessment, intervention, and care coordination in clients' homes and community settings
* Build meaningful, long-term therapeutic relationships
* Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
* Contribute to service improvement initiatives
* Support individuals to re-engage in meaningful life roles
This is not a desk-bound position. It's hands-on, relationship-driven work that requires adaptability, sound clinical judgement, and a genuine commitment to recovery-focused care.
About You
We're seeking someone who is:
* Clinically competent, compassionate, and flexible
* Skilled in communication and time management
* Able to work both independently and collaboratively
* Confident balancing client autonomy with clinical risk
* Committed to recovery-oriented, person-centred practice
Experience in mental health is desirable, but we value attitude, willingness to learn, and the ability to apply core clinical skills in complex environments. Many service-specific skills can be developed with the right supervision and support.
What We Offer
You'll be supported by the Community Team Manager, Clinical Coordinator, and Service Manager through:
* Clinical and peer supervision
* Structured onboarding
* eLearning and face-to-face training opportunities
