About the Role
The position of youth cancer social worker plays a vital role in providing care and support to adolescents and young adults with cancer. As a member of the multidisciplinary Youth Cancer team, you will make a significant difference in the lives of these individuals.
* Deliver comprehensive psychosocial assessments and develop personalized therapeutic plans to address the unique needs of each client.
* Advocate effectively for clients and their families, connecting them with community resources and services that promote overall well-being.
* Collaborate closely with healthcare professionals to provide seamless care across inpatient, outpatient, and outreach settings.
* SUPPORT THE DEVELOPMENT OF STRATEGIES TO ENGAGE AND REPRESENT CLIENTS IN A WAY THAT STRENGTHENS THEIR PARTICIPATION AND SELF-ADVOCACY.
* Provide empathetic and culturally sensitive care, taking into account the diverse backgrounds and experiences of clients and their families.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in social work, with a degree eligible for full membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW). They will demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment and adapt to changing circumstances.
