Bar Manager – Sons of Mary, Brighton VIC **** Full-time | $73,000-$77,000 p.a.

Key Responsibilities
Oversee the day to day operation of the bar area including opening and closing of the venue, ensuring safe, clean, and efficient bar operations.
Maintain service standards for food & beverage presentation, guest experience, and bar flow.
Oversee service and preparation both cocktails, bar-drinks and specialty coffee/latte service during breakfast, lunch and dinner services.
Manage event nights, DJs or special activations and coordinate staffing, service flow, set-up and breakdown.
Lead, coach and supervise bar and service team members; ensure training, performance standards and staff rostering meet the business's needs.
Monitor stock control, ordering, delivery, inventory reconciliation, wastage and cost controls.
Ensure compliance with liquor licensing, health & safety regulations, hygiene, fire and workplace-safety standards.
Assist in budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting for the bar operations; contribute to revenue growth, cost-control and profit-improvement initiatives.
Handle guest feedback, complaints or incidents in a timely and professional manner; maintain high levels of guest satisfaction.
Collaborate with kitchen, front-of-house, event and management teams to ensure seamless service and delivery across the venue.
Maintain and drive staff culture and service excellence; help build a strong, supportive and motivated team.
Lead opening and closing procedures; ensure bar and venue equipment, stock and infrastructure are maintained and in good working order.
Contribute to marketing, promotional and social-media initiatives for bar events and specials.
Requirements / Skills & Experience
A relevant hospitality qualification (Diploma) would be an advantage.
3 years relevant experience may substitute formal qualification.
Proven experience in a bar or hospitality venue management role (ideally minimum 1 year in a supervisory or managerial capacity).
Strong hands-on skills across bar service, coffee service, beverage preparation and guest interaction; you are as comfortable shaking a cocktail as you are pouring a soy decaf latte.
Demonstrated leadership skills: team supervision, rostering, training, performance management and building culture.
Solid financial acumen: experience with stock control, cost of goods, margin monitoring, inventory management and budget contributions.
Thorough understanding of liquor licensing laws, workplace health & safety, hygiene standards and other regulatory obligations.
Excellent customer service and guest-experience focus; confident in dealing with guest complaints and ensuring their satisfaction.
Flexible to work rotating roster, mornings, evenings, weekends and public holidays.
High level of initiative, ability to think and react quickly, and thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced venue environment.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to collaborate across teams and drive continuous improvement.
