Primary objective
Ensure the efficient and effective operation of the Criminal Records team by overseeing daily supervision, performance
management, and providing guidance and training to staff responsible for processing, recording, maintaining and filing recordable
court outcomes, information requests, parole and commit program alerts, Births, Deaths and Marriages Reports, and in-custody
photographs in a high-volume environment.

Context statement
The team operates within the Digital Transformation and Reform Command, and is responsible for processing, recording,
maintaining and releasing a high volume of offender records, as well as providing offender record information to law enforcement
agencies, including inter-jurisdictional police services.

Key duties and responsibilities
1. Oversee the daily supervision, performance management, guidance and training of eight team members and perform duties as

required, based on work demands.
2. Maintain a high level of client service through the provision of professional expertise and advice and demonstrate best practice

in the management of criminal records.
3. Develop, implement and maintain policies and procedures to meet legislative and internal and external standard operating

procedures.
4. Execute rigorous quality assurance protocols to check information recorded by the team, ensuring precision, integrity, and

adherence to policies and procedures.
5. Develop, record and produce accurate statistical records.

Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated team leadership skills and experience in providing training, support and mentoring to individuals and groups in a

high-volume environment.
2. Demonstrated knowledge of, or ability to obtain, knowledge of relevant legislation, sentencing outcomes and understanding of

court processes, procedures and terminology.
3. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in analysing and interpreting highly complex data.
4. Well-developed problem solving and decision-making skills while maintaining a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
5. Proven experience utilising a range of software applications, and the ability to quickly learn new systems.
6. Highly developed self-motivation, time management and organisational skills and the flexibility to prioritise work and manage

competing demands, work under pressure, and meet tight and conflicting deadlines while maintaining quality.
7. Sound professional ethics of confidentiality and discretion and the ability to exercise judgement.

Desirable
1. Knowledge and experience using Police business systems including SerPro, Mainframe (IJIS and MOVERS), NPRS, NCIS, MDEA,

TRM etc.
2. Knowledge and understanding of exchanging criminal history information between the NTPF and partner agencies, both locally

and across Australian jurisdictions.
