Autonomous specialist role

A global leader in autonomous technologies needs a global and talented workforce. Hexagon is

seeking suitably qualified candidates from a STEM background. Participants will join our team

on a 2-year Fixed Term basis in Western Australia working on our cutting-edge Autonomous

Road Trains technology.

You will be an excellent team player and collaborator critical to this world-first projects success.

Hexagon, in partnership with our client will deploy and operate a world-first fleet of 120 fully

Autonomous Road Trains to carry ore 150km to the Port and this is a unique opportunity be

involved and gain invaluable technical and operational experience over the 2 year period.

Major Areas Of Responsibility

Autonomous Specialists will have the opportunity to develop a broad set of experience by

rotating between our 3 core teams:

● Autonomous Onboard Engineering

● Responsible for the installation, commissioning, and operation of Hexagon onboard

technology on both autonomous and driven vehicle fleets critical for safe autonomous

operations

● Establish and enforce comprehensive safety protocols and risk management

strategies to minimise accidents or incidents

● Lead the data analysis and review of the onboard technology, reporting any incidents

and driving continuous improvement

● Own technical configuration of onboard technology ensuring any changes are

documented and approved via Management of Change procedure

● Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration and

deployment of onboard technologies

● Autonomous Offboard Engineering

● Commission supplied server and network infrastructure to efficiently run Hexagon’s

autonomous technology

● Ongoing system monitoring and performance optimisation

● Provide a helpdesk to address user inquiries, troubleshoot system issues, and provide

technical guidance.

● Primary technical liaison point with our client who provide the hosting and network

infrastructure that operates the autonomous systems

● Implement and manage security measures to protect from un-authorised access, data

breaches, and cyber threats

● Autonomous Control

● Operate the autonomous road trains across all areas of the haulage operation

including loading, travelling, tipping, refuelling and marshalling

● Optimise haulage routes to minimise travel time, fuel consumption and road wear

● Establish a continuous improvement approach, identifying and executing initiatives to

further optimise haulage operations

● Proactively monitor and supervise haulage operations to address potential issues or

emergencies

● Provide real-time tracking and reporting, including progress updates and material

movement

Knowledge And Experience - Desired

The future of mining is here, and we are looking for candidates that have a STEM (Science,

Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) Bachelor's degree. In addition, candidates will have:

● An understanding of mining operations and processes.

● Demonstrated aptitude for learning new technologies.

● Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to analyse and understand data.

● A passion for and understanding of autonomous technologies will be advantageous.

Travel

● This is a fly-in-fly-out position on an 8/6 and 7/7 roster for a healthy work-life balance,

or any other location/roster necessary to meet project requirements
