The Eva Copper Mine Project is a greenfield resource poised to become the largest new mine in Queensland, Australia. It is located in Cloncurry on the traditional lands of the Kalkadoon people.
Job Summary
Provide rigging specialization and expertise in work planning and packaging, safety and quality control, technical inspection and testing knowledge, and subcontract coordination. Ensure rigging activities operate safely, are complete, and conform to quality standards and project requirements.
Major Responsibilities
* Coordinate planning, review, and execution of rigging/heavy haul activities to ensure safe and efficient execution of work.
* Provide technical guidance to construction engineers, superintendents, and craft regarding rigging/heavy haul requirements.
* Prepare conceptual lift/heavy haul and transport studies.
* Provide technical input into the development of transport, heavy haul, rigging and lift strategies by advising project supervision and field engineering personnel on crane and heavy transport requirements.
* Prepare technical specifications for bid packages and assess subcontractor technical bid packages for lifting and abnormal transport requirements.
* Provide input and assist in the preparation of estimates.
* Prepare and review medium risk rigging/heavy haul plans, lift data sheets, formal calculations; prepare and review medium lift/heavy haul and site transport plans submitted by subcontractors; coordinate approval for critical lift/heavy haul and transport studies with a Bechtel Certified Rigging Engineer (CRE).
* Monitor the application of standard work processes and procedures.
* Monitor compliance of rigging/heavy haul operations with approved plans and applicable codes.
* Work with safety personnel regarding rigging/heavy haul-related safety procedures and requirements.
Education and Experience Requirements
* Bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience, or 14-17 years of relevant work experience.
* Physically able to conduct field inspections, including extensive walking, climbing ladders, scaffolding, using fall protection, walking on elevated platforms, uneven surfaces, and maneuvering in confined spaces.
* Strong English language communication and report‐writing skills.
* Excellent interpersonal skills, a team‐player attitude, and a knowledge‐sharing approach.
* Ability to solve problems by thinking laterally and understand client and stakeholder requirements for technical compliance and training.
* Capable of working within a multidisciplinary, multi‐cultural team and managing challenging multi‐cultural relationships.
* Self‐driven with the ability to plan and execute work without direct supervision from senior management or peers.
Required Knowledge and Skills
* Extensive knowledge of rigging planning and execution standards and requirements; experience with lifting equipment, alternative heavy lifting systems, mobile gantries, jacking, tailing, rigging equipment, load distribution systems, transport/transfer of equipment, soil mechanics, and structural steel design.
* Thorough knowledge of construction activities related to engineering disciplines, cost and scheduling, and contract administration; familiarity with environmental, safety, and health requirements on heavy‐industrial construction projects.
* Knowledge of subcontract administration and use of subcontracts; ability to interpret contractor/subcontractor responsibilities.
* Demonstrated sound judgment in selecting methods and techniques for solutions; seasoned professional with full specialization understanding; resolving issues creatively.
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Adobe Design Suite, and 3D/4D modeling software.
* Knowledge and application of Zero Accident Safety Philosophy.
* Broad knowledge of Construction Standard Work Process Procedures.
