About the role

As a key member of the Operations leadership team, the Manager – Business Resilience supports the Director of Operations Safety, Training and Resilience in strengthening V/Line's enterprise-wide resilience planning.

This role is responsible for developing and implementing business resilience strategies and ensuring compliance with relevant emergency management, risk, and rail safety legislation and standards.

You'll play a critical role in ensuring operational continuity and risk preparedness across the organisation.

Key accountabilities include:

Coordinating and supporting V/Line's Crisis and Incident Management Teams to enable rapid, customer-focused emergency responses.

Overseeing annual compliance activities under the Emergency Management Act and ensuring continuity plans are embedded in daily operations.

Facilitating emergency management and business continuity workshops, scenario planning, and organisational readiness exercises.

Building strong working relationships with emergency agencies, government departments, and transport partners, and representing V/Line at key forums.

Driving continuous improvement of emergency processes and systems, ensuring incidents are reviewed, recorded, and used to inform future resilience planning.

About you

You're a strategic thinker with a calm, solutions-focused approach and a strong background in emergency management, business continuity, or operational risk. A natural collaborator, you build trust quickly and thrive in complex environments where stakeholder engagement, sound judgement, and clear communication are key.

Our ideal candidate will possess the following:

A relevant qualification in Emergency Management and/or Business Continuity (Diploma or Cert IV) or be working towards one.

Proven experience working within a critical infrastructure environment.

Experience in heavy rail or infrastructure settings (advantageous).

Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment (desirable).

Strong knowledge of ISO 22301 (Business Continuity Management) and ISO 31000 (Risk Management) frameworks.

Demonstrated alignment with V/Line's values of responsiveness, integrity, impartiality, accountability, respect, leadership, and human rights.

If your skills or experience don't exactly match our listed requirements, we still encourage you to apply. We value diverse perspectives and believe in the potential for growth and development.
