Your new company
You'll be joining a large Federal Government department that values collaboration, respect, and innovation. The team works remotely across Australia, with occasional meet-ups in the ACT.
Your new role
As a Payroll Officer, you'll play a key role in ensuring smooth payroll operations and accurate salary calculations.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Administering fortnightly payroll operations and verifying salary accuracy
* Processing payroll transactions including leave, allowances, and deductions
* Managing superannuation contributions and taxation compliance
* Maintaining employment contracts and coordinating onboarding, transfers, and terminations
* Responding to service requests promptly and professionally, keeping stakeholders informed
* Communicating openly and respectfully with colleagues, clients, and suppliers
This is an initial three to six months contract commencing April 2026, offering flexibility, including remote working and a supportive environment.
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, you'll bring:
* Australian Citizenship (mandatory for Federal Government roles)
* Previous experience in payroll, finance, or people administration (minimum two years preferred)
* Strong attention to detail and accuracy
* Technological proficiency with SAP, & HRMIS software.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Problem-solving skills and the ability to meet deadlines
* Emotional intelligence and a commitment to fostering an inclusive workplace
