The Opportunity:
Promech is seeking a motivated Mechanical Engineer (Piping Engineer) with a strong design background to join their tight-knit Toowong team.
This is a highly technical, design-oriented role offering exposure to a diverse portfolio of projects across piping systems, mechanical equipment, stress analysis and broader engineering design.
You will work closely with an experienced multidisciplinary team, providing mechanical and piping design input on projects locally and internationally.

Key Responsibilities:
* Deliver detailed mechanical and piping design work, including pipe stress analysis (Caesar II or AutoPIPE) and broader engineering calculations
* Support or undertake finite element analysis (FEA) where required (nice to have)
* Prepare high-quality technical documentation including basis of design, scopes of work, evaluation reports, technical notes and operating philosophies
* Produce engineering sketches and collaborate closely with design drafters to develop drawings to Issued for Construction (IFC) quality
* Apply sound engineering first principles across piping layouts, hydraulics, pumps, valves, pressure vessel concepts (nice to have) and API 650 tank design (nice to have)
* Provide clear, professional communication with clients, suppliers, subcontractors and colleagues
* Assist with project engineering activities, including occasional site visits as needed
* Maintain strong technical accuracy while also producing clear, client-ready deliverables
About You:
* Tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering (essential)
* 3–6 years demonstrated engineering experience in one of the following industries: oil & gas, petrochemical, minerals processing, and water
* Strong capability in piping design, pipe stress analysis, piping layouts, pumping systems, valves and hydraulics
* Experience with Caesar II or AutoPIPE (essential)
* Experience with Strand7 or ANSYS for FEA (highly regarded)
* Good working knowledge of relevant Australian and International codes
* Strong communication skills and the ability to produce clear technical reports
