Sydney Grammar School is an independent non-denominational day School for boys. The secondary School is located on College Street in the city of Sydney and the two preparatory Schools are located at Edgecliff (K-Year 6) and St Ives (Preschool-Year 6).
About the Role
Temporary
Sydney Grammar School St Ives Preparatory is seeking expressions of interest from dedicated, enthusiastic and motivated individuals for the role of Preparatory PDHPE Teacher (Term 1 only). The successful applicant will be required to fulfil the following duties:
• Be responsible for delivering PDHPE lessons and promoting a healthy and active lifestyle among primary school boys, with a focus on younger grades.
• Develop and implement age appropriate PDHPE curriculum in accordance with educational guidelines and standards.
• Plan and execute engaging and interactive lessons that cater to the diverse needs and abilities of students.
• Teach fundamental movement skills, such as running, jumping, throwing, and catching, through structured activities and games.
• Foster positive attitudes towards physical activity and promote sportsmanship, teamwork, and fair play.
• Conduct assessments and evaluate student progress in relation to PDHPE learning outcomes.
• Collaborate with other teachers and staff members to organise school sports events, carnivals, and intra-school competitions.
• Assist in the supervision and management of students during physical education classes and sports activities.
• Maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment that promotes respect, empathy, and inclusion.
• Uphold the school's policies and procedures, including those related to student safety and well-being.
• Collaborate with the broader school community, including parents, to promote the importance of PDHPE in students' overall development.
• Organise and undertake Saturday Sport training and matches.
• Deliver the Preschool – Year 2 Sport Programme, including swimming.
• Support and teach in the literacy and numeracy programmes.
The successful applicant will be highly motivated and ideally possess a passion for teaching PDHPE. Applicants must have excellent communication skills and the ability to engage with people at all levels in the Sydney Grammar School St Ives community.
