Sports College South Australia (SCSA), a sports specialist school, is a forward-thinking and student-centric independent, co-educational senior secondary college open to Year 11 and Year 12 students. POSITION OVERVIEW
We are currently seeking a qualified and motivated teacher to join the basketball program team at our Mitchell Park venue on a fixed term contract for Term 1 and 2 of 2026.
Sports College SA teachers are responsible for all components of the Sport Immersion Program at a single venue. The teacher role is suitable for Graduate and Proficient teachers. Accredited HAT/LTs will be eligible for a higher salary.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS
* Overall leadership & responsibility for a class program and individual student experience including all matters relating to learning outcomes and student wellbeing
* Co-design of an innovative curriculum under the leadership of the Director of Learning Innovation
* Lead the delivery and assessment of the SACE with the College's project-based learning approach
* Establish and maintain a strong culture in line with the College's values.
* Work with the student mentor/s and learning assistants to ensure all students are supported with their learning and pathways
* Participate as required in community impact days and practical sessions
* Develop and maintain strong partnerships with key stakeholders (including parents, students, local community, employers)
* Enhance student experience and strengthen sporting partner relationships by collaborating with the Sporting Partnership Coordinator
* Commitment to continuous self and school improvement
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
* A commitment to and passion for changing the game in education
* Experience in teaching and mentoring young people in SACE and in sports and related fields
* Demonstrated capacity to work with and build professional relationships with all stakeholders including young people, parents and colleagues
* Knowledge and understanding of curriculum, assessment and reporting requirements
* Effective presentation and facilitation skills, and ability to use a range of teaching methods to engage students
* Well-developed verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with proven ability to build rapport, and interact effectively with a broad range of people at all levels. This includes an ability to liaise directly with parents/carers
* Strong written communication skills, with an ability to plan and write curriculum for SACE
* Ability to work independently and contribute effectively as a team member to achieve goals
* Strong organisational, planning and time management skills with an ability to prioritise and manage workload, meet deadlines and adapt to changing circumstances
* Ability to use problem solving skills to identify problems and establish an appropriate solution
* Proficiency in using ICT and relevant software and database packages.
* Experience in playing and coaching sport
* Well-developed written/verbal communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to develop and maintain strong and appropriate relationships with young people and adults
* Ability to be self-motivated
* Ability and desire to fully engage in a collaborative approach
* Strong organisational, planning and time management skills with an ability to prioritise and manage workload, meet deadlines and adapt to changing circumstances
* Full appreciation and understanding of young people and how to appropriately support THEIR needs
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS, CERTIFICATES & CLEARANCES
* Current Teacher Registration Board (TRB SA) registration (or ability to gain it)**
* Current Driver's Licence
* Current First Aid qualification (including CPR and Anaphylaxis Training) (required or willing to obtain)
* Working with Children Check (WWCC)**
* Current RRHAN-EC (Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect)**
