Overview
Rural Financial Counsellor / Small Business Advisor - N/NE or Sth Tasmania. Rural Business Tasmania is seeking a capable and compassionate Rural Financial Counsellor / Small Business Advisor to support rural enterprises, small businesses and start-ups across Tasmania.
This is a flexible role and may be offered on a full-time or part-time basis. Open to applicants in North/North East and Southern Tasmania.
Rural Business Tasmania (RBT) is a not-for-profit organisation delivering financial counselling and business support services across Tasmania. We are a team committed to strengthening rural enterprise, building financial capability and supporting sustainable futures.
Responsibilities
* Assess financial position and business viability
* Analyse Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, Cashflow and Budgets
* Develop financial forecasts and recovery strategies
* Support cashflow management and financial capability development
* Provide practical advice on business planning, structure and growth
* Assist clients to navigate financial hardship and lender negotiations
* Identify risks, opportunities and sustainable pathways forward
* Connect clients with relevant grants, services and professional support
* Maintain accurate client records within a case management framework
* Build referral networks and engage with regional communities
* Contribute to marketing initiatives and promote services within regional communities
* Attend and present at relevant industry and community events
* Contribute to community development initiatives and maintain awareness of policy changes impacting clients
About You
* You are financially literate, commercially aware and motivated to make a difference.
* You bring strong analytical skills and confidence interpreting financial statements
* Experience in small business, farming, finance, accounting or advisory roles
* The ability to translate complex financial information into clear, practical advice
* Empathy and professionalism when supporting clients experiencing financial stress
* Excellent organisational skills and the ability to work autonomously
* A Diploma of Financial Counselling (or willingness to obtain) is required.
