Saltbush is looking for an Engagement Officer to join our team in Darwin and help connect participants with meaningful employment pathways while building strong relationships with employers, industry partners and community organisations.

Position Details:

* Location: Darwin
* Employment Type: Permanent Full-time
* Excellent Remuneration: $90k + 12% super + salary packaging + 5 weeks annual leave
* Reports To: Employment Services Program Manager
* Hours: Normal business hours, with flexibility for additional hours as needed
* Travel: Occasional travel to other Saltbush service locations, as required

Our mission is to support individuals, particularly from Indigenous communities, in achieving their full potential through culturally appropriate and community-driven initiatives.

Primary Purpose: The Engagement Officer is a key contributor to the success of the Indigenous Skills and Employment Program (ISEP), responsible for driving the development and expansion of industry, employer and service provider networks. This role is vital in ensuring the achievement of ISEP's objectives by actively engaging a diverse range of stakeholders, including industry partners, employers, Workforce Australia providers, employment service providers, and advisory groups.

The Engagement Officer will lead efforts to identify, secure, and sustain employment pathways for Indigenous participants, working closely with the Employment Service Team. The role prioritises the creation of culturally safe and inclusive workplace environments that support long-term success. Additionally, the Engagement Officer will organise and facilitate program visits, industry workshops, and information sessions aimed at increasing awareness participation and overall impact of ISEP.

This position is integral to a dedicated team that delivers sustained, tailored support to individuals facing significant and complex barriers to workforce participation. In all actions, the Engagement Officer will demonstrate a high level of cultural competency, respect and collaboration ensuring positive outcomes for Indigenous communities.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

To ensure success in your role as an Engagement Officer, you will:

Industry & Employer Engagement

* Develop and implement an Engagement Framework to drive employer partnerships and industry collaboration, and awareness of Saltbush's full range of services, including employment, training and social enterprise programs.
* Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with employers, particularly in high-growth sectors like Care and Support (aged care, disability services, community health, social services).
* Secure a minimum of 25 Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) with local employers to establish a strong ISEP employer network.
* Partner with the broader Employment Services Team to provide cultural competency advice and resources to employers to foster culturally safe workplaces.
* Represent Saltbush and ISEP at industry events, networking meetings, and stakeholder engagements.
* Promote additional Saltbush services to industry partners and employers.

Stakeholder & Service Provider Engagement

* Build and maintain relationships with Workforce Australia providers, employment services, and community organisations to increase job placements.
* Facilitate ISEP information sessions to engage employment service providers and job seekers.
* Collaborate with the ISEP Advisory Group, industry bodies, and government agencies to enhance program outcomes.
* Foster strong relationships with key stakeholders in the Northern Territory employment ecosystem.
* Secure and coordinate volunteering, work experience, and work placement opportunities for participants in collaboration with wider ES Team.

Program Delivery, Marketing & Continuous Improvement

* Capture, analyse, and report on industry participation, satisfaction, and employment outcomes to drive continuous program improvement.
* Maintain comprehensive records of stakeholder engagement activities for program evaluation, contract reporting, and impact storytelling.
* Produce monthly reports detailing achievements, outcomes, and engagement impact.
* Leverage social media and marketing tools to promote employer engagement, program successes, and industry insights.
* Assist in the creation of promotional materials and social media campaigns to enhance program visibility.

Essential Selection Criteria:

* In-depth understanding of the complex barriers faced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander job seekers, including systemic, cultural, social, and economic challenges that impact employment opportunities.
* Proven experience in engaging with industry and employers, cultivating and maintaining mutually beneficial working relationships.
* Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to develop and deliver presentations and workshop materials to diverse groups and individuals in both physical and digital environments.
* Strong persuasive skills with the ability to inform and engage stakeholders, ensuring sustained participation over time.
* Ability to work effectively and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, taking direction from management while maintaining initiative and accountability in delivering engagement activities.
* Demonstrated adaptability in following organisational priorities, policies, and procedures while proactively contributing to program outcomes.
* Competency in IT, including MS Office, online environments, in-house systems like SharePoint and social media platforms.
* High-level organisational skills and self-motivation with proven ability to prioritise, manage a high volume of tasks, meet competing deadlines and adapt to changing work environments with agility and flexibility.

Employment is Subject to the Provision of the Following:

* National Police Clearance (no more than three months old)
* NT Working with Children (OCHRE) Card
* Current Driver's Licence

Highly Desirable:

* IAP2 Certification.
* Qualification in Business Administration, Employment Services or a related field.
* Experience working in a not-for-profit environment within the Social Services/Employment Sector.
