Project Overview
Bechtel is delivering the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) scope for the Eva Copper Mine Project – a greenfield resource positioned to become the largest new mine in Queensland, Australia. The Project is owned by Harmony, a world‐class gold and copper mining and development company.
Job Summary
The Cost Engineer and Reporting position integrates cost engineering principles with advanced data analytics and business intelligence solutions, supporting project and functional leadership through automated dashboards, enhanced cost reporting accuracy, and data‐driven decision‐making.
Major Responsibilities
* Develop and maintain project budgets, forecasts, and cost control systems.
* Perform cost variance analysis.
* Support contingency management and risk‐adjusted forecasting.
* Integrate cost with schedule and progress measurement.
* Ensure compliance with corporate and client cost management procedures.
* Design and develop interactive Power BI dashboards for cost, schedule, and performance metrics.
* Build data models using DAX and Power Query.
* Automate reporting processes by integrating multiple data sources (ERP, EcoSys, SAP, Primavera P6, Excel, etc.).
* Develop predictive and trend analytics to support proactive decision‐making.
* Standardise reporting templates and KPI definitions across projects.
* Ensure data governance, quality, and validation controls.
* Identify opportunities for automation and reporting optimisation.
* Support implementation of digital tools within the Project Controls function.
* Develop data pipelines and structured datasets for enterprise reporting.
* Contribute to the development of Power BI standards and governance frameworks.
Education and Experience Requirements
* Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, finance, or related discipline.
* 5+ years' experience in Cost Engineering within EPC, EPCM, or PMC projects.
* Advanced proficiency in Power BI (DAX, data modelling, dashboard design).
* Strong understanding of Earned Value Management (EVM).
* Experience integrating cost and schedule data (Primavera P6 knowledge desirable).
