Lead Sample Preparation Team in a Fast-Paced Laboratory Environment
We are seeking a proactive and driven Sample Preparation Manager to join our Geochemistry division in Orange, NSW. This role will be key to delivering success in the heart of the Central Tablelands region.
About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity for a leader who is passionate about laboratory operations and has experience in supervisory or managerial capacity in the same or related field (mining, chemical manufacturing, fast-paced production). The successful candidate will ensure that client sample preparation requirements and deadlines are met by optimizing resources, analyzing productivity challenges, engaging staff, and providing leadership.
The ideal candidate will have excellent written and verbal skills, strong customer focus, and genuine leadership capabilities with the ability to manage changes respectfully and professionally. A tertiary qualification in Science (preferably Chemistry), Geology, Engineering or a related field is highly regarded.
Key Responsibilities
* Ensure staff members complete tasks assigned to their position through training and development, staff reviews, and discipline when required, to ensure tasks are completed safely and correctly.
* Ensure all staff and site visitors comply with the ALS Code of Conduct.
* Advise senior management on the need to purchase capital equipment and maintain adequate levels of consumables.
* Exceed client expectations by optimizing turnaround times and achieving quality results.
* Effectively utilize resources by reducing breakages and downtime.
* Review productivity each day and maintain samples/FTE in line with the Australian Region.
* Prepare and submit annual budget if required.
* Use monthly P&L data to monitor the financial performance of the section to ensure appropriate balance in quality, turnaround, and profitability.
* Submit monthly report to the laboratory manager if required.
* Ensure the site or section complies with all ALS compliance protocols.
* Other duties as directed by the laboratory manager.
