We're currently looking for a technically skilled FX Artist (Crowd) with strong experience in large-scale crowd simulation and procedural workflows. This role focuses on building scalable, efficient crowd simulations that integrate seamlessly into complex VFX pipelines for feature film and episodic productions in addition to more traditional FX responsibilities when required.
Key Responsibilities
* Leverage RSP's Crowd toolset to design, build and deliver large-scale crowd simulations for feature and episodic projects
* Develop procedural crowd systems using Houdini (agents, behaviours, simulations, terrain interaction)
* Optimise crowd setups for performance, scalability and render efficiency
* Create and manage agent variations (animation clips, look variations, shader assignments)
* Troubleshoot simulation, caching and rendering issues
* Develop and maintain tools using Python and HScript to streamline crowd workflows
* Ensure clean scene builds and documentation for handover across departments
* Collaborate with Animation, Layout, Lighting and Compositing to maintain smooth interdepartmental workflows
* Contribute to workflow and pipeline improvements related to crowd systems
Required Skills & Experience
* Senior-level expertise in Houdini, with a strong focus on Crowd/Agent systems
* Strong Python scripting skills; working knowledge of HScript
* Solid understanding of animation cycles, blending, behaviours and state-driven systems
* Experience optimising heavy simulations and large agent countsGood understanding of shading, lighting and rendering workflows
* Working knowledge of Maya and Nuke
* Strong understanding of the VFX pipeline and production handover processes
* Comfortable working within a Linux-based production environment
