Our client, Hamilton Island, generates, transmits, and distributes electricity, supplies water, and wastewater treatment services across the entire island for the benefit of residents, guests, employees, and our community. Hamilton Island owns and operates an electrical distribution network comprising a 22km-long submarine high voltage power cable from the mainland, 50 kiosk substations, and a backup power station.
Your Role
A unique opportunity exists for an Electrical Services Technician. This role involves performing installation, commissioning, maintenance, and repairs of Hamilton Island's electrical distribution network, ensuring high standards of quality and safety.
* Maintain and operate High Voltage (HV) and Low Voltage (LV) electrical networks
* Maintain and operate backup diesel generation plant
* Install, joint, terminate HV and LV cabling
* Maintain airport runway lighting systems
* Test and audit electrical installations
* Respond as first responder to passengers trapped in lifts
* Prioritize urgent repairs to ensure guest safety and satisfaction
* Participate in an on-call roster to address out-of-hours breakdowns
* Maintain and repair hazardous area equipment, including island's fuel systems
* Attend to electrical needs of water and sewerage plants
* Read and maintain electrical energy meters on the island

About You
* QLD Electrical Licence or equivalent (Essential)
* QLD open/unrestricted driver's licence or equivalent (Essential)
* Ability to obtain and hold an Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC) (Essential)
* Willingness to be part of an 'on call' roster for out-of-hours breakdowns (Essential)
* Experience with electrical distribution networks, SCADA, and PLC systems (Desirable)
* High voltage switching and coordination experience and qualifications (Desirable)
* Experience with electrical instrumentation systems for water and sewerage (Desirable)
* High voltage polymeric cable jointing and termination (Desirable)
* Experience with diesel generators (Desirable)
* EEHA qualifications (Desirable)
* Experience with basic airfield lighting (Desirable)
