SpaceX was founded under the belief that a future where humanity is out exploring the stars is fundamentally more exciting than one where we are not. Today, SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars.
SOFTWARE ENGINEER (DYNAMICS)
The Starship Dynamics team is responsible for all dynamic and vibration analyses on SpaceX's Starship vehicle. The group focuses on supporting structural design, analysis, and verification of the Starship booster and ship. You will create and maintain software to enhance the efficiency of dynamics analyses and implement automation to directly impact vehicle development. Your software tools will interface with analyses including structural dynamics, flight data processing, model and analysis correlation, trajectory design, and engine dynamics. Candidates should possess strong software and analytical skills, along with a desire to learn about dynamic systems and various engineering disciplines.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Implement tools for dynamics analysis of the Starship vehicle.
2. Create and maintain a cutting-edge software platform to manage large processing tasks reliably.
3. Develop highly robust, scalable software for analysis teams.
4. Collaborate with analysis groups to automate processes supporting quick development iterations.
5. Provide software support for test and launch operations.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Bachelor's degree in computer science, physics, mathematics, mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or related engineering discipline.
2. At least 1 year of development experience with Python, JavaScript, and/or SQL (including internships and school projects).
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
1. Background in physics or engineering-based simulation.
2. Knowledge of dynamics and aerospace environments.
3. Strong Python skills.
4. Experience with Kubernetes.
5. Proven ability to own projects, define requirements critically, work independently and collaboratively, communicate effectively, and drive successful outcomes.
6. Experience with full stack software development.
7. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
